Apse Gallery - Julie Cockburn Exhibition ‘Unstitching the invisible’
The artists previous exhibition investigated intangible unspoken space, that exists in the in-between. This space seems to have unwritten trope, communicating through habit, repetition, practice and otherness.
By using a bee hive as a metaphor, the hexagonal shapes are recreated using a 3Doodler pen and rigid ink. Building these structures through a repetitive process, into, and around household objects, such as a chair or a table has developed in the artists producing bigger hive like structures. The space within these structures become corrupt, an abject form, in liminal space.
Unstitching the invisible’
‘What if, one day we woke from slumber, and the world was a giant apiary? Everything once familiar, assimilated into a complex organised society ruled by pheromones……’
Meet and chat with the artist Julie Cockburn, every Thursday between 10.30 – 4.30 during the exhibition.
