Hartlepool Marina

The place that symbolises Hartlepool’s rebirth and ongoing regeneration is Hartlepool Marina. The whole area was completely unused and out-of bounds between the early 1960’s up until the late 1980’s.

Now the focus, and unique selling point for Hartlepool, the marina creates the hub that so many great attractions and facilities are built around.

The Marina itself is a great success story, offering 500 permanent berths as well as ample space for visiting sailors and providing first class facilities from laundry facilities to a full chandlery service all on a 24hr year-round basis.

Even if you are not a boat-owner you can still sample time on the water on-board the small Tall Ship ‘Adventure’ or the upcoming attractions the Hover Experience and Stand-Up Paddle Boarding.

While the marina creates the stunning backdrop, all around its perimeter you can find a host of top quality attractions, bars and eateries. The standout is Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience, home of HMS Trincomalee and also the Museum of Hartlepool.

Moving to Navigation Point, close to the lock-gates, you will find the highest concentration of restaurants in Hartlepool offering cuisine’s from around the world every day of the week. The whole stretch of premises; from the lock-gates at one end to the far edge of the marina at the other end, are a hive of eateries separated by some excellent bars and cafes. To find out more about what culinary delights are on offer check out our eating-out section on the website.

Elsewhere around the marina perimeter you will find a selection of retail parks that are home to many high-street favourites and out-of-town retailers.

The marina is the focal point for many varied events including the biennial Maritime Festivals, the Marina 5-mile race, the monthly Farmers-market and was really brought to life in August 2010 when it hosted The Tall Ships Races, a fleet of nearly sixty magnificent Tall Ships were greeted by almost 1million visitors over four days.
