There is a treat in store for people of all ages across Hartlepool in an action-packed fun day.
It's on Monday 20th August from 1pm to 4.30pm on the Clavering Play Area opposite the Saxon pub in Easington Road and entry is free.
Among the wide range of activities will be a rock-climbing wall, a speed cage, a tombola, fire brigade displays, a bouncy castle, a cake stall, dancing and fitness taster sessions, face painting and eyebrow threading. Refreshments will also be available.
There will also be a chance to cheer on about 60 young people aged 8-19 from youth groups across the town as they take part in a hilarious 'It's A Knockout' competition from 1pm to 3pm featuring inflatable obstacles, a tug of war and a rugby challenge.
The event has been planned and organised by young people from the town's Clavering, Headland, West View and Dyke House areas.
It's part of a six-month project by local organisations the West View Project, the Belle Vue Community Sports and Youth Centre and Headland Future to help reduce anti-social behaviour in the Clavering area. The project has been funded by the Community Action Against Crime Innovation Fund (CAACIF).
Hartlepool Council has given its support to Monday's fun day by organising the It's A Knockout event and additional funding for the event has come from Community Games.
Hartlepool MP Iain Wright will open the event and Hartlepool Mayor Stuart Drummond will hand out medals to the It's A Knockout competitors at 4pm. There will also be entertainment by local dance troupe The Hartlepool Hawks.
Rebecca Wise, Senior Participation Officer for the West View Project - which runs activities for young people in Hartlepool - said: "Together with our other partners in this project, we have been working with local children to show them how all their actions have an impact on the community and to help them build stronger and better relationships with other local residents.
"The young people have put 110% effort into organising the fun day and I hope that people of all ages will support them by coming along and having a great time. Events like this can, and do, make a big difference to local communities."
Sue McBride, Hartlepool Council's Neighbourhood Development Officer (North and Coastal), added: "We're delighted to support this marvellous day out for all the family.
"We thought the It's A Knockout event would be a great idea to carry on a bit of the Olympic spirit and to encourage our young people to explore sport and other fitness activities.
"We congratulate the young people involved in organising the fun day - they have done a lot of hard work and should feel very proud."
