Run by Hartlepool Caledonians Hockey Club in partnership with Hartlepool Council's Sport and Physical Activity Team, the sessions are on Thursday evenings from 16th August to 20th September.
They will take place on the astro pitch at St Hild's School in King Oswy Drive from 6pm to 8pm. Sticks and other equipment will be provided.
Rachael Pringle, the Council's Sport and Physical Activity Officer, said: "Hockey is a great British sport which continues to grow in popularity and features strongly in the London Olympics.
"If you haven't played hockey since you were at school or have never played it at all and would like to give it a try, this is the course for you.
"Everyone is welcome but we would especially like to hear from people in the 16-25 age group."
Each session costs just £1.50 per person and places must be booked in advance. For more information or to book, call David Thorman on 01740 630309.
